Why TufLuck Doesn't Use Security Ground Anchor Bolts — And Why That's a Feature, Not a Compromise

Security ground anchor bolts are the standard approach to fixing a motorcycle anchor to the ground. The idea is sound: use bolts that are difficult to remove so the anchor stays put. In practice, exposed security bolts create a problem that most riders never consider — until it is too late.

The Problem With Exposed Security Bolts

Most ground anchors rely on security bolts to fix them to the floor. These bolts are designed to be hard to remove — tamper-resistant heads, one-way screws, or shear bolts that snap off after installation. The reasoning is that if the bolts cannot be removed, the anchor stays fixed.

But here is what happens in the real world: when your motorcycle is not parked in the anchor, those bolt heads are exposed. A thief with time, tools, and no bike to worry about can attack the anchor directly — working on the bolts at their leisure, before your motorcycle ever arrives. By the time you park up and lock in, the anchor is already compromised.

Security bolts are only as secure as the situation that surrounds them. Exposed, they become a target.

TufLuck Takes a Different Approach

TufLuck does not rely on security ground anchor bolts. Instead, the bolt heads are shielded by design — but only when the lock is in use.

When a motorcycle is locked into TufLuck, the lock body covers the fixing bolts. They are completely inaccessible. A thief cannot reach them, attack them, or begin working on them while your bike is secured.

When TufLuck is not in use — when no motorcycle is locked in — it can be unbolted and removed entirely. There is nothing left to attack. No exposed hardware. No fixed target. Just a clean floor.

What This Means in Practice

  • When your bike is locked in: the bolt heads are shielded. No access, no attack surface.
  • When your bike is elsewhere: TufLuck comes out. Nothing is left bolted to the floor for a thief to work on in advance.

This is a fundamentally different security model from the standard exposed-bolt anchor. Rather than trying to make the bolts harder to remove, TufLuck removes the opportunity to attack them at all.

Removable When You Need It. Immovable When It Counts.

TufLuck gives you the holding power of a ground-fixed anchor, without the permanent vulnerability of exposed security bolts. It is the only motorcycle floor lock designed with this balance in mind.
